The Joy of Winning the Championship

There is no better joy in hockey than winning the championship game.

The moment when that final buzzer sounds and all of your hard work throughout the season finally pays off – the early morning practices, the bag skates, the tough losses in overtime, the angry speeches from the coach after a blowout loss, the long drives to and from the rink.

You and your teammates have been through it all together. Some of them have been with you since the beginning of the season, others since the very start of your hockey career. Each and every person on the team feels the same thing as you leave the bench to crowd the goalie in celebration with all of your friends – pure elation.

This may be the only real chance you get at glory in your hockey career. With so many teams and leagues and players fighting for the same thing, it’s not uncommon to only get one shot at the grand prize, and the fact that you and your team were able to pull it off and make the most of your opportunity is an undescribable feeling.

Cherish those moments and don’t ever forget them. The players on the team, the coaches, the parents that supported you every step of the way – everyone played an equal part in getting your team to the top.

As your seasons roll on through November and into December, brace yourselves. The big dance is coming soon and this is your chance to cement your legacy.
