There are less than two weeks remaining in the National Hockey League (NHL) season!
With the last game being played between the Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers on Sunday, April 8th, we are just 11 days away from awarding our prizes for iPlayHockey’s 2017-18 Hockey Pool.
With first place taking home a $500 gift certificate for Sport Chek, second place winning a $300 gift certificate for Shop.NHL.com, and third place winning some great iPlayHockey gear, there is a lot at stake!
While the race in the NHL’s standings are heating up, it’s doing just the same in our Hockey Pool.
“Anselm” currently sits atop the pack with a total of 1,525 points, but this only leaves him four points of separation from “carl4040” in second place. “Anselm” has had an impressive run at the top of the table considering his team has accounted for less man games than most other contenders.
Four other players are in realistic striking distance of prizing with so few games remaining – “EmmaBee” holds down third place with 1,517 points, “KIRBY14” is in fourth with 1,514, and “Nashoba” and “RMH” round out the pack with 1,510 points each.
Connor McDavid’s late surge in scoring has been impressive, but not surprising for the NHL’s top player. He has surpassed the 100-point milestone for the second consecutive season and has the Art Ross Trophy all but locked up.
We could see several players surpass the 100-point mark this season for the first time in a while – with Nikita Kucherov, Evgeni Malkin, Nathan MacKinnon, and Claude Giroux all within 8 points of the mark.
Scoring is up this year in the NHL and it shows both in point totals and in our Hockey Pool.
It’s set to be a tight race to the finish; keep your eyes glued to the standings!
