Despite being one of the more expensive sports to get into, hockey is well worth the price.
Hockey has more equipment to purchase than perhaps any other sport, including skates, shin pads, socks, pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, neck guard, jerseys, gloves, helmet, and of course increasingly expensive sticks.
This can all add up to a very expensive initial cost when starting in the game for the first time, which may scare some people away. This is without even mentioning the staggering cost of registration as a result of the cost of ice rentals.
Add on top of that the cost of travel for tournaments, the gas required to get around to all the rinks you’ll be playing at practicing at, the additional costs for potential camps and/or lessons, or even the extra fees to play at a more competitive level, and yes we are well aware that our country’s game can be astronomically expensive.
All that being said, everyone who plays hockey, knows that hockey is worth it.
No other game makes the same memories, creates the same relationships, or provides you with the same feelings as the game of hockey.
If you want a cheaper option, have your child play soccer. But just know that at the end of the day, they’re being held back from the game that makes this country as special as it is.
There is no price that we wouldn’t pay for hockey, because life simply wouldn’t be the same without it.
