September 28th is Rowan’s Law Day. Rowan\u2019s Law and #RowansLawDay were established to honour the memory of Rowan Stringer and bring awareness to concussions and concussion safety.<\/p>\n

Rowan\u2019s Law was named for Rowan Stringer, a high school rugby player from Ottawa, who died in the spring of 2013 from a condition known as second impact syndrome (swelling of the brain caused by a subsequent injury that occurred before a previous injury healed). Rowan is believed to have experienced three concussions over six days while playing rugby. She had a concussion but didn\u2019t know her brain needed time to heal. Neither did the community around her.<\/p>\n

Please join us in remembering Rowan by promoting concussion safety. We all have a responsibility in recognizing a possible concussion following a hit to the head or body. If a concussion is suspected, stop playing, sit out and find help.<\/p>\n
