The final regular season Gator came saw a late-ish game against the Blackhawks who happened to be without that guy... uh... Ya know what, I don't recal his name. It starts with an S. Swim, Swammy, Slippy, Slappy, Simmons, Swenson, Swanson... Oh yeah, its right here... Samsonite (minus the -ite).
We needed to get a win on account of we don't want to be rolling into 'ploffs on a six game winless streak. A bad start also didnt make it feel like our slump was gonna get busted either. 2 quick Blackhawks goals at the 5 minute mark in had us a little worried. The period ended Hawks up 2-0 and shot 9-7 for the Gators. This worry increased a little more 3 min into the second as the Hawks went up 3-0. Did I mention we only had 9 skaters show up. Yeah.
Then the Gators channeled some good ole Gator Hockey magic. The green and gold caught a couple penalty calls going our way and capitalized with 2 PP goals to claw away at that Hawks lead. Second ended 3-2 Hawks as the Gators plugged 15 shots on the Hawks goalie.
Combine that with another 17 third period shots and a Nebs death roll at the end of the period and the result turned a 3-0 deficit into a 7-4 win. Now that's some Gator Hockey right there. That's the Gator boys I've grow to love watching play.
Jordan Taillon makes an appearance, nets the comeback starter, assists on another and goes home with GaryGator and #GatorOfTheGame
