Friday night found the headlines closing out the south rink with an 11:30pm tilt against to Mighty B's.
Our first game against these guys ended up not being a game 'cause we could get enough guys out to skate. So technically this was our first game. For those who were wondering, a Mighty B is not a reference to the Bruins, nor were their colors. A Mighty B is actually old mighty ducks colors and instead of the duck shaped old school goalie mask, its an old school goalie mask shaped like a butt. So they're the mighty butts essentially. Cool cool cool.
First period started with a fair amount of back and forth action and some good looks. The butts got on the board first at the 8min mark, then got into some penalty trouble a couple min later on a pair of penalties. The Gators seized thier opportunity and capitalized on a pair of PP goals via the sticks of Tremblay and Gillis. Period ended with the Gators up 2-1
Second saw the shots go up and the tempers as well. Coinciding unsportsmanlike penalties from McRae and the Butt play ruined our bid for nachos. Guessing the Butt play didnt approve of our 3rd PPG of the game, especially since it was McRae that bingoed. Overton fresh of his journey back to the net last game put the Gators up by a goal before then end of the period and personally thanked Neds and Brock before headibng back to the bench. This period also saw the first ever penaly for "Illegal equipment" called in a Gator game. F'd if I know what that means...
Third continued some jawing back and forth and some odd chirps. Some Butt referred to Spenny as 5'9" when he is so obviously 5'8".... pfffft, idiot. 7min in a butt found the puck on his stick and cruised in on a breakaway tying the game up. PerPer put on his cape and about a half min later went all McDavid and scored the game winner. The final couple minutes saw the Gators on the PK because the ref blew the whistle on Dev who at the moment of the whistle was pinned on the boards with a B's elbowfirmly placed under his visor. Meh. Butts goalie got pulled and the Gators masterfully killed off the penalty to close the game out
That one was fun in all honesty
Lowrey stopped 26 for the win
Perry got #GatorOfTheGame
Spenny went -4 on the night (yeah, bringing that stat line back)
