The Saturday February 15 version of Gator Hockey was pretty runty
Yet another after 11pm start saw us face the Runts for the first time. No pre-scouting our opponent cause… cause… faaack, who does that? Well KT walks in packin a case of AlbertaGenuineDraft as pregame/postgame brews and off we go.
First period scoring started off with KT as Kev nets his 21st of the season via a soon-to-be dad Scradley and a secondary from DadBod Gilbert. The runts tied it up a few minutes later from a wobbly point shot. They don’t ask how; they ask how many right? The play was even the rest of the time aside from a Neil ‘cross-checking’ penalty near the end of the period. 1-1 after the first period on a 15-9 shot advantage going to the Runts
Second saw the Runts strike first only to be evened back up by Irk McRae about 45sec later via a Nailer primary. Same even / tight checking took hold for the rest of the period until Trace, “The Hammer” Overton pounded the go-ahead tally before the end of the period. Gators lead 3-2 although being outshot to that point 24-19
Third period saw an early Runt penalty nulled by a soon thereafter Gator sin bin visit by Neil. Just as that all ended KT popped an unassisted bingo to put us up 4-2. Then McRae stuck a dude in the junk, then the Runt player decided to go after “Not”Eric, which lead to a 5min major of which the gates blew wiiiiiiiide open. Scradley capitalized not once, but twice on the elongated PP. The Runts actually binged shorthanded and the scoring was rounded out by TasteyTeske to make the final 7-3
Euric nutted a dude, bingo’d, and was awarded #GatorOfTheGame
Lowrey stopped 30 shots for the win
