Gators/Bandits 2: Cause we have to. 2020-10-04

The rematch to our first game had the boys still scratching their heads at the first game.  The Bandits goalie in that game played unreal.  The 4-3 Gator win was not a true indicator of the game.

That sort of faded once the boys hit the dressing room.  We have a tendency to focus more on making fun of each other, really adds to the allure of Gator Hockey.  We did however recall an old favorite, Joe Gulli in our conversation.  “Principle Gulli” if you will.  We was a good nemesis to Scradley.  Having a rival is pretty fun.  I think we found a rival in the Bandits.  They’re all about tons of shots, fast skating, and a little chirpy.  This game they even had a coach.  I know right!

First period didn’t start so well for the boys in green and gold.  Just like that the Bandits stole away 2 goals in the first 3 minutes.  Not a good way to start a game by the way.  Buckley clawed away at that with a goal 2 min later from Lando and Scradley, then tied things up unassisted near the end of the period thereby settling things down and resetting the game.  Second ended with the Bandits leading the shot count 16-15

Second fired up, and Scradley got the Gator lead 6 min in with helpers from Lando and Trace.  Then the  parade of Bandits to the sin bin started.  Buckley and Lando found gold in the powerplays, but the 28 shot period from the Gators got a little cozy and the Bandits channeled their inner Toby Reider for a late period shorty.  Period ended in a 5-3 Gator lead off a 43-39 shot differential.

Third was the Gators turn to visit the box.  Brendan ruined free nachos with a slash 29 seconds in.  On the PK Brady V got pinched for a knee, and the Bandits used a 5on3 PP to get to within 1 goal.  Mid period saw Buckley do Buckley things again and make the lead 2 goals.  The bandits bench boss debated the refs decision that the goal was in before the whistle to no avail.  This kinda ignited their bench a bit, and resulted in a missed high stick to lando’s mush that immediately after tipped a bandit goal in to make it 6-5.   2 minutes left in the game Scradley took a trip penalty and then remainder of the game was desperate clearing of the zone and essentially a 5on3 as the Bandit goalie took a seat.

Gator survived the raid, and skated off with a 6-5 win.  Rivalry confirmed.  Bandits no likey’d the result.

I believe Lando got #GatorOfTheGame with a 3pt performance

Lowrey stopped 42 for the W
