What in the wide world of sports is Regicide you ask

Well, firstly, read a book.  Its a word

Furthermore, regicide is the purposeful killing of a monarch or sovereign of a polity and is often associated with the usurpation of power.  A regicide can also be the person responsible for the killing.  The word comes from the latin roots of regis and cida (cidium) meaning "of monarch" and "killer" respectively.

Dumbdumb summation is we beat the Oil Kings

For the second straight game we had a few absenses.  No big deal, I'll just call a few boys and alright, 10 skaters.  That'll do donkey.   Except....

We rolled out of the locker room with 9.  2 forward lines and 3 D.  Kinda problematic since the only guy that was getting in any form of summer physical activity was likely Tracy.  He probably does reps in his sleep.  Not even kidding.  Does that usually mean a pretty high shot wide open game?  Ummm yeah, like, duh! You new here?

First period saw the Gators fire/catapult/volley 14 shots at the Oil King net.  Jordo found the net first with a highlight reel goal via some nifty passing from Cunningham and Culbertson.  A couple spins of the minute hand later and Cunningham extended the lead to 2 via a Cochran primary and Culby secondary.  Lowrey made a pit stop at the bench looking for a towel cause he had been leaking from the chin after a Oil King shot about 7 scoreboard minutes previous.  Goalies...  Period ended Gators up 2-0.  No PIMs, potential free nachos still in the air.

Second period was similar to the first.  Defense schmefence.  Its all about SOG.  Gators threw an additional 16 to the Oil Kings 13.  A failed poke check and quick hands got the Oil Kings to within 1.  Letourneau, favoring the slap shot all night found the twine and got back  our 2 goal cushion 4 minutes later.  Period finished with the gator up 3-1... and still no PIMs... the scent of melted cheesy goodness was wafting (we were playing in the south rink.  Tap 25 is literally right behind the goal

Third period fired up and we found that the Oil Kings probably didn't focus much on cardio either this "Best Summer Ever".  Poor Brent Onyschuk faced another 20 shots.  Stick taps to him for managing to stop all but 2.  Jordo "Dont call me Abdelkader" tallied his second early before Cochran ruined nachos at the minute and a half minute mark.  Sigh. Lowrey whiffed on a swat to the corner and the puck of course found net after the penalty kill.  Double sigh.  A-aron who was firing cannons all night found the twine for his second of the night at the 10 minute mark.  Moments later, Hanna got into a disagreement with a mouthpiece and collected a double minor which also took Culbs off the bench leaving 5 skaters and 2 spares as a reward for for sinning.   And that was game.  5-2 Gators

Lowrey stopped 36 of 38 for #GatorOfTheGame fame

We're 2-0 on the season
