The RiverCree Twin Rinks north arena saw some hot nooner action between the Growlers and Gators
Have we played these guys before? Hell if I know, IDAF at the best of times, and even less when I do a writeup about a game that I didnt play in. Hashtag stay crispy, hashtag appreciate the hustle
How did it all go? Well buckle up F#%*ers!
First couple minutes saw the Gators and Growlers exchange some decent chances, but the green and gold were first on the scoresheet via a nifty zone exit from Goebel leading to a Thomson rush and eventual/inevitable bingo by Kais. Nifty. Same minute of play Filewich snipes some top cheese glovehand... via... a... wrister? I had to replay that cause Scradly and wristers just doesnt compute. Moving along, play was pretty even from there on, and at bout the 11min mark PerrBear got a bingo to compliment an apple as he gently slid the third Gator go in low. Take note Leanne... wink emoji. The end of the period saw a couple trip calls from Tremblay and Thomson and the Growlers capitalized with a PP with about a half minute left.
Period ended 3-1 Gators on a 10-8 shot advantage.
Second periods first red light went to Overton on a beauty feed from Tremblay. That guy... he can hockey. 7 min mark saw a questionable 'kicking motion' goal by Culbs. The call went up to Toronto, the reply was "Who the flying f-word is this and how did you get this number?". Result: Goal stood. Although that may have had some off-setting game management karma attached as the Growlers reeled off 3 goals before the end of the period, closing it out at a 5-4 Gator lead off a 19-18 shot advantage
And interesting third started with an early Growler penalty, the Gators couldnt chomp a goal off of it though. Moments later a nifty tip by the Growlers #17 got it all notted up... for 10 seconds. Thomson got his first Gator bingo not too long afterwards off a Resler primary and Hanna secondary. Cunnigham added to the lead 17 seconds after that via Hanna and Goebs assists. Growlers grumped it back to 1 shortly after but that was all she wrote.
