Hockey Brings Family Together

Perhaps the most powerful and compelling aspect of the game of hockey is the sport’s ability to bring a family together.

Hockey is looking forward to Saturday night, so you can cozy up on the couch in the living room with your family, with snacks at the ready and the fireplace going, ready to take in Don Cherry and some great Canadian hockey.

Hockey is waking up at 5:15AM on a Saturday morning, a normally crazy thought, but being okay with it because you get to head to the rink with mom and dad, stopping at the Tim Horton’s drive-through on the way for a hot chocolate and a donut.

Hockey is giving up an entire weekend to drive to a small town a few hours away for a hockey tournament. You know your team doesn’t have much of a chance against the tougher competition, but it doesn’t matter. It’s the car ride, the meals, and the weekend experience with your family that really matters.

Hockey is bugging mom or dad over and over again to bring you to the outdoor rink in the winter, even though they just want to relax after a crazy day at work, but they brave the -30 degree weather and do it for you anyway because they just care so much.

Hockey is the year-end gathering with teammates and fellow families, celebrating the year that was regardless of the final record, and knowing that your family grew in the past few months. Every single person in that room is now considered family.

Hockey is the most passionate sport there is, and opening your family up to Canada’s game is just bringing your family closer together.

Trust us.
