Instructor Mike Pilon teaches us the fundamentals of puck support for defencemen, focusing on puck support in the neutral zone.
Key point: puck support always derives from behind as it prevents any forechecker from intercepting or taking away a pass. By bringing the play towards the middle of the ice, it allows more passing options. Always have two side puck support. The passer will continue to follow up ice in the direction of the pass but behind the player with the puck in order to provide that puck support on the forecheck.
