Drill overview

A must-have drill for defenders looking to move the puck to the net quickly and efficiently.

  • Two players are all you need: one along the boards feeding passes, and a defender working the blue line.

  • The defender receives the puck, fires a shot, then walks the line toward center for another release, and finally over to the far side for one more.

  • Focus on squaring your body to the net before shooting and avoid over-handling — it’ll only slow down your release.

  • Power isn’t the goal here — accuracy and placement are.

  • Aim to put pucks into dangerous areas where teammates can create tips or rebounds.
